"Bored" Yet?
I don't normally pump drawings out this fast, so since this one happened in two days, I figured I'd show how it was done.
There is no progress picture of the usual "I swear these blobs and scratchy lines will be a thing" phase because I whipped through it too quick.
That being said, references would have been a brilliant move.
Oh well.
I knew that I wanted the ironing board in the middle to be wearing a suit.
The others were a little harder to decide for.
There have been a few interpretations of this piece, which makes me happy.
Didn't use any body references, but I DID look up thousands of ironing boards, surfboards, and irons.
The surfboard's design changed a bit as things went on...
...Which kind of forced the iron to change, because I either wanted all three to have a flower print, or only have the ironing board have one.
Visually speaking, Surfboard was a too busy anyway.
Inked!
Scanned and cleaned up in Photoshop!
Flat color on their clothes and heads...
Color has never been my greatest skill...
Flat color everywhere else...
Decisions were made about Surfboard.
SHADING! (Well, very minor shading.)
...Background?
And that's it!
...Mainly because I don't feel like working on it anymore.
Yay!

Fleyes
I've been drawing these things and I'm not gonna post them all here because SURPRISES but...
FLEYES because I'm clever.
I love them.
I can't stop drawing them doing silly things...
Fifteen of them in black and white will be used to countdown to the first Oh Hell, Donna! being posted.
I'll let you know when that starts.
...For now...
Lookit fleyes playing the snow!
*ahem*
They’ll all wind up on mugs and such in http://society6.com/RowynGolde and possibly in a RedBubble store for stickers.
We’ll see.
I’ve got to shop around for that.
If you can think of a good place to have stickers made, let me know.
I'd also love to make some kind of charm out of these guys eventually.

What the Hell I'm Doing
School has started again (my last semester, provided I don't screw up) and so everything is overwhelming and scary.
To relax, I've smashed myself head first into a huge project, because that will totally help.
Really, I'm just still working on an ongoing thing...
Oh Hell, Donna!
I thought I'd take a moment to show you the general steps of how this works.
1.) I write a script. This means I loosely say what I want to happen, then break that up into scenes, then break THAT up into dialogue and panels.
2.) Crappy, sketchy thumbnails that only make any sense to me, like this:
Pages upon pages of that crap.
3.) I take a break to drink some tea.
4.) Pencils! I usually get way ahead of myself and start doing the inking of the text in this phase, just to be sure there is room.
...Don't do it this way. I make terrible choices in my art.
5.) I draw all the borders, finish up the pencils...
6.) Then I ink the pencils, erase EVERYTHING (meaning, Rob erases it) and scan it all in.
8.) Likewise, the backgrounds (usually watercolor) are done separately, and then placed in where they need to be.
9.) We have flat color (usually digital)... Though I have no examples to show you right now...
10.) We have shades and highlights and backgrounds, oh my!
The end.
I also have a font/typeface of my handwriting, but I've only ever used it on one part of the comic, or places where I've screwed up while inking. Hmm.

What I Wore and Convention Madness
I'll start this off with the first chunk of the 30 day "What I Wore" challenge... meme... thing.
Day 1 was me dressed for a presentation. I was nervous as all Hell, even though it was with a group.
I still can't tell if I screwed up or not.
Also, I love vests.
Day 2 was me being grumpy because it was Halloween, but I had class from 6-9PM and couldn't do anything fun.
We didn't even get trick or treaters.
That pink sweater is becoming my favorite Winter item though.
It's too big and really soft and lovely.
Day 3 was somewhat exhausting, but in a good way.
My household is one of introverts, so we aren't great at crowds or entertaining friends for long periods of time, even when we'd really like to do so.
This day was me entertaining a couple friends I hadn't seen in a long time, followed by going to a loud bar to meet two of my knight's old friends.
So. Yeah.
The outfit was dark jeans and a neat, oddly warm top with lots of sparkly things. I had to push up the sleeves because they are only 3/4 length and it was driving me crazy.
Day 4... Why did I look so unhappy?
I had my gore pants on... Invader Zim shirt... Comfy hoodie...
I remember. Headache. Headache and utter fear of my then upcoming half hour solo presentation.
This entire semester has been utterly insane.
Day 5 involved a Batgirl shirt and plaid pants that were given to me when a friend hit puberty and couldn't fit in them anymore. Conveniently, I'm about the size of a child.
No shoes because screw it.
Day 6 during the day was just jeans and a black tee, since I was going to be meeting with my advisor at some point. She had a puppy in the room because he was training to be a therapy dog. Also, my advisor is really nice and helpful, which is new for me.
The hanging pants are my workout pants. ...Actually, I reversed the color of them somehow. (Shows how often I actually workout...)
Hitting the gym as though I’m healthy! Yay!
Day 7 was drawn really super tiny before it was scanned in. I have no excuse for this fact.
Trigun shirt and blue jeans.
Day 8! Again, full of angst.
Again, angsty because of the half hour presentation.
On the bright side, that sweater is comfy.
Day 9 was presentation day. I was terrified, but I did my best to pretend I wasn't. The teacher had a lot of discussion points and I'm still not sure if that was a good sign or a bad one.
Was she trying to correct me? It was mostly clarification purposes... Was I not clear?
Does she just respect me enough to want a discourse?
Am I going to fail?
Questions?
Day 10 and the drawing looks nothing like the actual top.
The top is silky and has red, grey, and pink flowers, but it's much less simplistic.
It ties in the back and the grey part over the cleavage is a separate under shirt, needed for obvious reasons.
The choker necklace has the sign for Scorpio.
My clutch there is awesome because it not only has my cards, cash, whatever, but it also fits my epi-pen and chapstick.
...The epi-pen is a little more important than the chapstick.
Day 11 was a day I did not leave the house. At all.
Wore my “Cry baby” shirt and drank tea from one of my tiki mugs.
My chair (from my knight's sister) is actually much more awesome than what I drew.
Aaaand day 12, which was today.
Again, I'll be doing this for 30 days, but I figured I'd stop and do a post here because today was a convention and I wanted to mention that I went.
The comic I worked on wasn't quite ready to show yet, but it'll be at the next one!
Here, I'm dressed as Cassie Hack from Hack/Slash.
My knight was dressed as Vlad, so he bought a plain mask, I built Vlad's mask on top of it...
and then my knight painted it.
That's my lap.
We didn't stay long at at this convention just because the three of us (the other one was Deadpool, by the way) were all kind of peopled out by the time we got there.
Still, we saw some friends, looked at a lot of stuff, and managed not to buy anything.
I also learned that in or out of costume I'm terrible at recognizing anyone I know.
I can tell what character he or she may be dressed as, but I won't know where I know the person him or herself from, let alone his or her name.
I'm memorable, as are the other two of this household, so this can be an issue.
Last time we went to this convention was memorable due to 11 leftover House of the Dead credits someone had walked away from while playing.
Knight and I took over.
Turns out that my aim isn't bad, but I'll automatically shoot anything that moves.
As I result I one shot...
...two of the scientists.
BUT I killed a lot of zombies too.
Greater good and all that, right?

Going Domestic
To start this off, I should mention that my housemate FATE and I have a strange kind of friendship. He refers to me as Mom and I refer to him as my son. Normally, this means whoever I happen to be dating is by proxy his "dad" and generally that person just kind of shrugs, accepts it, and never brings it up.
Rob took this Dad thing to heart.
I'm not kidding.
We quickly became a bunch of grown ass adults playing house.
...
My therapist says it's okay so shut up.
Rob and I have already domesticated each other anyway.
He cooks for me:
I do his laundry:
Domestic!
In any case, now that I'm finally settled in, moving is happening again.
Technically, I'm not the one moving, so there is that. ... Rob is moving in, Xena is moving out, FATE and I talked about moving more rooms around, and we decided to have my room be a studio/office space for whoever is in the apartment, since Rob and I might need a little more space, but we'd be sharing a bedroom.
*Cue Rob's grandmother asking what my clergy father must think of Rob moving in with me*
Hypothetically speaking, this seems simple enough.
...
It's been chaos.
The problem is that Rob needed to start moving his stuff in, but there isn't space yet. As a result, we have boxes of stuff and some of my stuff crammed into weird places and everything is just teetering on a I-don't-know-where-this-goes string.
After a bit of this, I had started to go a little utterly-too-intense over trying and failing to find things. I stopped really communicating when I got too frustrated and instead opted for hand gestures and strange noises.
For example:
And I wanted it.
We've already invested in more shelving in an attempt to avoid our clutter invading the clutter of the other:
This shelf did not stay in that spot very long and it will be moving again, I'm sure.
And in the meantime, we've each started organizing the few things we actually can have some control over until we are all settled on space again.
Rob and FATE organized the entertainment area:
And I have started doing little projects in an effort to eventually become this super-pseudo-mom.
Between Rob and my own fuckery, we have a lot of magnetic, wipeable, and cork boards.
Like this one:
I decided that these would become a giant area of wall. I wanted one slightly bigger wipeable board, so I made one out of a frame that wasn't useable for it's intended purpose and some old color swatches:
In the meantime, I've been stressing over where everything will go and what I could possibly fit now that I couldn't before.
Can my vanity now fit in our bedroom? I could use it as a side table... Maybe?
What about my drawing desk? Surely that'll go in the office/studio for everyone to use! ...Right?
Lastly, we had cockroaches seep in from downstairs, but now that Rob sprayed the Hell out of every corner in this apartment, they seem to be leaving us alone. FATE saw two, "half-dead" recently, but that's it. Next, we'll have to patch the giant holes where they were getting in.
On the way, we should probably re-caulk the asshole tile:
Every time someone steps on this thing, he or she assumes he or she was the one to magically break it. I don't know if everyone I know collectively has no idea how tiles work, or if they all just think they weigh a lot more than is possible or what, but no. No guys. No. The tile was already busted long before.
I'm sure fixing it will be another post.
...As well as rearranging, organizing these rooms, possibly painting things...
Stay tuned!
